Publishers of Distinction
Based in Glasgow, the company has grown dramatically in terms of both size and turnover, boasting a wide-ranging portfolio of titles which is, truly, the envy of publishers the length and breadth of the country. At the time of its formation, the company had just four members of staff – today, it has in excess of 60, a number that continues to rise. The company’s flagship title, bunkered, is Scotland’s top-selling golf title and the company’s golfing portfolio was widened in 2003 with the addition of Scottish Club Golfer, which saw PSP move into the newspaper publishing market. Scottish Club Golfer quickly became – and remains – the largest freely-distributed golf newspaper in the country. Based on its success, the English Club Golfer was launched at the start of 2004 and it too has become the most widely-distributed, free-of-charge golf newspaper in England. The next year saw the introduction of two new titles for the company. No.1 magazine, a Scottish women’s celebrity lifestyle magazine, was launched to wide acclaim and it continues to grow and grow within what is an extremely competitive marketplace. Nationwide Bowler, meantime, was born out of the success of another of the company’s titles, Scottish Bowler. It has subsequently become the most widely-distibuted and most widely-read free-of-charge publication for bowling enthusiasts. Additional to its own publications, PSP has become the preferred publisher for a wide range of official bodies and organisations, including VisitScotland, Bluestar Ferries and the World Bowls Tour. As such, PSP also publishes VisitScotland’s guides to golf, walking, fishing, mountain-biking and adventure sports, as well as the World Bowls Tour annual programme and Scottish Hosteller magazines, and the official onboard magazine for the Bluestar ferry crossing between Rosyth and Zeebrugge. Not content with excelling within the publishing marketplace, PSP is also enjoying a burgeoning reputation for event organisation. It has already successfully developed and staged two Scottish Golf Shows and even has its own golf tournaments, the bunkered Matchplay Challenge, a Ryder Cup-style match contested by Scotland’s leading professional and amateur golfers, and the Scottish Club Championship, the country’s biggest inter-club tournament. Continuing to grow at an incredible pace, PSP Publishing Ltd is truly one of the most dynamic, enterprising and successful publishers in the country.
